The Storied History of Christmas in Ida Concerts
In 2005, the Executive Board of the Christmas in Ida Festival made a strategic decision to enhance the musical offerings of this quintessential small-town American event by introducing renowned headliner entertainment. It was also at that time the concerts became known as the La-Z-Boy Family Holiday Concert Series.
The initiative began with a focus on popular music to appeal to younger demographics. Through a partnership with Radio Disney AM950, the festival secured top-tier performers, including Drew Seeley, KeKe Palmer, Macy Kate, JUMP5, Savvy and Mandy, Joey Page, Booboo Stewart, and Fivel, as well as the acclaimed Radio Disney’s Next Big Thing WINNER– Jasmine, and the Radio Disney National Tour-Jingle Jam.
In 2011, a pivotal shift occurred under the guidance of the Executive Board, transitioning the festival’s musical genre to country music. This transformation marked the inaugural performance of Little Texas, the first of three appearances by the band. The festival has consistently presented renowned national country headliners such as Diamond Reo, Tracy Byrd, BlackHawk, Collin Raye, Restless Heart, Keith Anderson, Josh Gracin, Tyler Rich, Presley & Taylor, and Grace Leer.
Subsequently, the festival expanded its repertoire by introducing two additional prestigious events: the Commemorative and the Jingle Bell Rockout! Concerts; and new in 2024, A Unique Evening of Trans-Siberian Music will open the festival on Thursday night.
As a result of these deliberate efforts, Christmas in Ida has evolved into a premier Midwest concert destination renowned for its exceptional country music offerings and heated outdoor theater. Notably, the festival maintains its commitment to accessibility by continuing to offer free admission to all concerts.
