One of the enduring traditions of Christmas in Ida is the annual Children’s Lunch with Santa, hosted at the esteemed Lynn C. Weeman Post of the American Legion and its Auxiliary. This original festival event, steeped in community spirit and generosity, serves as a testament to the rich history and enduring values of Christmas in Ida.
This festive occasion sees over 300 children being treated to a complimentary lunch comprising hot dogs, chips, dessert, and beverages. Additionally, each child is presented with a gift package containing items generously donated by local businesses, embodying the community’s spirit of giving.
Throughout the event, beloved cartoon characters delight the young attendees, adding an extra layer of joy to the festivities. The highlight of the day is the arrival of Santa and Mrs. Claus, accompanied by their merry band of elves, evoking smiles and wonder among all present.
Santa is never too busy for some family photo fun! Whether you’re striking a pose with the man in red himself or capturing those priceless moments with loved ones, Santa’s sleigh is equipped with ample time for making memories that’ll last a lifetime. So gather ’round, strike a pose, and let the jolly magic of the season shine through in every frame!
Although admission to the lunch is complimentary, tickets are required for entry. These tickets can be obtained from the Ida Branch Library or the Ida Township Hall, ensuring a smooth and organized experience for all attendees.
Notably, the Lynn C. Weeman Post of the American Legion and its Auxiliary have garnered national recognition from the National Organization of the American Legion for their invaluable contribution to this cherished community event. Their dedication to fostering joy and camaraderie during the holiday season exemplifies the spirit of service and unity that defines the Christmas in Ida celebration.
